Pianists who won the 2001 APCA award (São Paulo Association of Art Critics): João Carlos Martins (category "Recitalist"). The 2nd National Piano Competition of Brazilian Music "Spartaco Rossi" was held at the Tatuí Conservatory, SP.

Judging committee: André Rangel, Leila Mutanen Tai, and Mauricy Martin. The Clube do Choro de Brasília presents the "Ernesto Nazareth Year" - all shows throughout the year are in homage to this composer, with musicians encouraged to play at least one of his pieces.
