Pianists who won the 1972 APCA award (São Paulo Association of Art Critics): Edson Elias (category "Recitalist"), Denis Akel (category "Revelation"), José Carlos Cocarelli (among others, in the category "Special Award"), Hermeto Pascoal (in the category "Soloist", in Popular Music). The work "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra" by Souza Lima was awarded in the category "Symphonic Work." The event, held on an unidentified month, featured works by Souza Lima, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of his graduation and awarding of the First Prize at the Paris Conservatory.

Leonardo Righi (clarinet) and Oleg Kuznecov (piano) performed "Humoresque" for clarinet and... piano.
