December 31. Nelson Freire's New York debut, performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 4 as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Rafael Frühbeck De Burgos. Nelson was scheduled to play only on January 1st and 2nd, but replaced pianist Jeanne-Marie Darré for the concerts on December 31st, January 3rd, and January 5th.
