January 26. January 26th. The old Carlos Gomes Theatre, located at Rua Luiz Gama, A-2 and 2-A, Rio de Janeiro, was inaugurated. Later, it was rebuilt and reopened at Rua D. Pedro I, A-2 and 2-A, only to be destroyed by a fire in 1950. The current Carlos Gomes Theatre, at Praça Tiradentes, nº19, was inaugurated on September 15, 1961.
